Unit No. Description Thickness
3 Sand, light brown, limy, contains chunks of clay, volcanic ash, and gravel. Shows definite Ogallala characteristics. Thickness varies, but about 6 ft. exposed 6 +/- ft.
2 Clay shale, medium brown, dry surface cracks in the "crackle" pattern characteristic of bentonite, but the shale does not appear bentonitic. Grab sample taken (757-29340). Thickness estimated. Grades into... 15 +/- ft.
1 Clay shale. Resembles unit above except predominantly dark gray with a little brown; does not show the bentonite "crackle" pattern as well as the unit above. Thickness of exposure estimated 6 +/- ft.
