6 Clay 5 ft.
5 Shale, weathered. +/- 1 ft.
4 Zone of isolated rounded septarian clay ironsonte concretions. Weathers to limonite and hematite. Septarian filings are selenite, and selenite occurs along this zone. Concretions are fairly even in size and average 8 inches in diameter 6 - 8 in.
3 Shale, black blocky in lower part, thinly laminated. Weathers dun to light gray. Non-persistant limestone lenses occur at or near base. Limestone is dark gray to black. Contains straight and curved nantiloids, Marginifera, gastropods, Squamularia. Also contains large mass of pyrite. 7 ft.
2 Coal, bright, hard, blocky. Much calcite. 11 - 12 in.
1 Clay, reported +/- 6 ft.
