General Information

Adell Northwest Field Oil & Gas Data

General Field Information

Produces Oil: Yes Produces Gas: No
Exploration Method: The field was found by drilling a core drill prospect that had been further defined by reflection seismograph.
Drilling Casing Practices: Production casing was set through the pay zones and each zone was selectively perforated and acidized. An average of 250 feet of surface casing was required.
Electric Logging Practices: There is a portion of a type log in the Red Book. They suggest using logs from the discovery well (Gillespie #1).
Discussion: The average completed well cost $45,000. The average dry hole cost $16,200.

Producing Formation:

LANS.-K.C.
(Lansing - Kansas City Supergroup)

Depth Top: 3664 feet
Formation Lithology: The pay zones are light gray, finely crystalline, oolitic limestones ranging from 5 to 20 feet in thickness; each zone has 2 to 15 feet of porosity. The original oil-water contact was -1010.
Trap Type: Each porous lime member of the Lansing-Kansas City groups is productive down to and including the 180-foot zone. The Adell Northwest field is on a local closure on the Adell-Jennings anticlinal trend; 50 to 60 feet of closure is evident. The structure exhibits strong west dip, 230 feet in less than one-half mile.
