Sequoyah Field Oil & Gas Data

General Field Information

Produces Oil: Yes Produces Gas: No
Exploration Method: Drilled on a Winfield anomaly in the Hugoton gas field
Drilling Casing Practices: The wells drilled before July 1959 were fracture treated with treatments varying from 6,000 gallons plus 6,000 pounds sand to 12,000 gallons plus 12,000 pounds sand. In some cases the fracture treatments were preceded by small acid treatments to clean out the formation.
Discussion: As of July 1959, the average cost of a 4800 foot dry hole was $33,500. The average cost of a completed oil well, including the fracture treatment, was $57,400.

Oil & Gas Production Information

Produces Oil: Yes

Producing Formation:

MORROWAN
(Upper Kearny Member)

Depth Top: 4694 feet
Formation Lithology: Fine grained, sub-rounded, calcareous, friable in part and slightly glauconitic
Trap Type: The stratigraphic Morrow sandstone reservoir was deposited in a saddle of an approximate northeast-southwest Mississippian Trend. The sandstones grade laterally to shale to the east and west.
Continuity of Reservoir Rocks: The northwest and southeast limits of the field have been defined by facies changes in the Morrow section. The northeast and southwest limits of the field have not been defined.
