General Field Information | |
Drilling Casing Practices: | Most of the producing wells were hydraulically fractured. Preceding the fracture, most of the wells were treated with mud cleanout acid. |

Formation Lithology: | Chert Breccia: White and light gray semitranslucent to opaque chert. Where porous, the chert fragments are coarsely tripolitic and are enclosed in a fine tripolitic chert and tripoli matrix. Locally shale may also comprise a part of the matrix. The reservoir appears to be extensively fractured and the fractures are an important part of the porosity and permeability. Updip, the porous chert becomes dense or grades into light gray dolomitic chert, cherty dolomite or limestone. The thickness of the chert section ranges from 10 to 140 feet. |
Trap Type: | Stratigraphic: The trap is formed by an updip porosity pinchout below an erosional unconformity separating the Mississippian Osage Series from the Pennsylvanian Cherokee Group. The Mississippian surface dips an average of fifty feet per mile to the southeast into Sedgwick basin. |
Continuity of Reservoir Rocks: | The reservoir quality varies greatly within the field because of permeability changes. Areas of poor reservoir result from an increase in the amount of relatively impervious siliceous matrix. Increasing water saturation limits the field downdip. The gas distribution appears controlled by permeability changes and by a combination of ancient topography and structure. |
