Willtex Field Oil & Gas Data

General Field Information

Produces Oil: Yes Produces Gas: Yes
Geologic Province: Sedgwick Basin
Exploration Method: Landsat photogeology and seismic
Surface Formation: Ninnescah shale of the Sumner Group, Permian
Oldest Formation Penetrated: Arbuckle (Ordovician)
Drilling Casing Practices: Drill a 7 7/8" hole to the total depth using chemical gel mud with low weight. Unusually high mud weight and water loss have been known to suppress shows. Drillstem testing is normally not done. Perforate the potential pay interval with two jet shots per foot using a deep penetrating charge. Approximately one-half barrel of 15% hydrochloric acid (MCI) per perforation is used to clean up perforations. Put well on pump.
Electric Logging Practices: Dual Induction Focused and Gamma-Density-Neutron Logs are run from approximately the Heebner Shale to the total depth, i.e. bottom 2000 feet of the borehole.

Producing Formation:

MISSISSIPPIAN
(Mississippian System)

Depth Top: 4980 feet
Geological Age: Mississippi Osagean (Goebel, 1968)
Depositional Environment: Grain-sized material, such as bioclasts, are noticeably absent from the samples. Deposition in a low energy, restricted circulation setting is implied. Minor amounts of interpreted detrital clay minerals are present.
Formation Lithology: The basal Mississippian in the Willtex Pool is characterized as cream to gray, fine to medium crystalline, partly recrystallized Mudstone (Limestone) with minor amounts of interpreted detrital clay minerals and gray-tan opaque chert.
Formation Geometry: 100' to 130' of massive carbonate mudstone (Micrite) with discontinuous zones of varying recrystallization
Trap Type: Primarily structural
