General Information

Satanta Field Oil & Gas Data

General Field Information

Produces Oil: Yes Produces Gas: No
Exploration Method: Subsurface geological studies
Drilling Casing Practices: Treatment: Mud acid and fracturing Surface casing must be set at least 25 feet below all tertiary or unconsolidated deposits and below all fresh water sands. This would be at a depth of approximately 500 feet in the vicinity of the Satanta field.
Discussion: July 1959: Cost to drill a dry hole was $47,500; cost to drill a producer was $80,000.

Summary Production Information

Field Size: 640 acres
Total Wells: 7
Productive Oil Wells: 2 as of March 1994
Abandoned Wells: 5
Cumulative Oil: 136,123.00 bbls as of March 1994

Producing Formation:

MORROWAN
(Upper Kearny Member)

Depth Top: 5370 feet
Formation Lithology: Quartz sandstone: fine to medium grained, slightly calcareous and glauconitic, shaly in part, poorly sorted, loosely cemented.
Trap Type: Stratigraphic entrapment. There are two separate Morrow sandstones that appear to have been deposited as bay mouth bars during a period of fluctuation in the environment.
Continuity of Reservoir Rocks: These Morrow sandstones have a lenticular character and apparently extend over a relatively small area.

Oil & Gas Production Information

Produces Oil: Yes
Maximum Net Pay: 10 feet Average Net Pay: 9 feet
Drive Mechanism: Solution gas drive
Water Production: The J. C. Stevens 3, 15-081-10218, stabalized at 6% water after eight months of production. The water analysis is from a drill stem test done on the J. C. Stevens 5 (15-081-10220) at 5380 - 5416 feet in the Morrow sandstone, which may correlate with the pay zone of the C. Moore 1 (15-081-00009).
Proven Production: 80 acres
