Short description: Sinkhole north of Wallace in Wallace County. The sinkhole, 200 feet across and 90 feet deep, appeared in July 2013. The KGS determined that natural dissolution of underground halite (rock salt) likely caused the collapse. Several historical collapses have been documented in Wallace County, and sinkholes have been reported in at least a quarter of the 105 Kansas counties.
