Short description: Post Office Oak at the Morris County Historical Society Museum in Council Grove. Travelers on the Santa Fe Trail in the 1830s and 1840s reportedly left messages at the base of the tree. The oak, which died in 1990, was part of Council Grove's Santa Fe Trail-Related National Historic Landmark District, named a National Historic Landmark in 1963 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
