Short description: Officers' quarters at Fort Larned in Pawnee County. Fort Larned, established in 1859 and moved to its present location in 1860, housed troops known as the Guardians of the Santa Fe Trail in its sandstone buildings. Fort Larned National Historic Site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960. This photo was taken prior to the fort's restoration and designation as a national historic site.
