Short description: Beecher Bible and Rifle Church at Wabaunsee in Wabaunsee County. About 70 members of the Connecticut Kansas Colony, also known as the Beecher Rifle Colony after Rev. Henry Ward Beecher helped arm the colonists with Sharps carbine rifles and a supply of Bibles, arrived in Kansas in 1856. The native limestone church was completed in 1862 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
