Short description: Fox Creek near Spring Hill Ranch, now part of Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, in Chase County. Spring Hill Ranch became a National Historic Landmark in 1997. The 11,000-acre Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in the Flint Hills, established in 1996, represents a portion of the 170,000 acres of tallgrass prairie that once covered the central United States.
